New diver visibility reports feed!

Updated: Jun 6, 2024

An update from Marla, the diving visibility forecasting tool for UK freedivers, scuba divers and spearfishers.

Diver visibility reports are easier to find

We’ve made it easier to see recent and live reports from other divers. There is nothing like a report from a diver coming out of the water. We’ve added a diver reports feed to the homepage, to make it easier to see recent dive reports divers have made anywhere on the map.

You can also hover over a spot on the map to see if recent reports have been made at that site. We hope this will help you find reports for near where you are diving.

Apart from sharing your on-the-ground experience with other divers, your reports help us calibrate our visibility forecasts. The more dive reports you share, the better Marla can forecast future conditions.

Diver reports can be created for anywhere around the UK coast, choose a dive spot on the map, or click anywhere in the sea to tell others how your dive was.

Marla on The Honest Diver Podcast

Marla got a mention on the Honest Diver Podcast. In this episode, Nic and Jim talk about coral bleaching, sewage discharge, dSMBs and Marla, a new resource for divers - using AI to predict viz at dive sites.

What we’re working on now

  • More dive spots - UK diving has so much to offer. We’re working on adding more spots to the map. In the meantime, did you know that you can click anywhere in the sea to get a visibility forecast?

  • Improving the way we show the diving conditions. We want to make it easy for you to know when the conditions are right to go diving. Visibility is only one factor when planning a dive.

  • More mobile friendly - We’re making it easier to, use Marla and find great diving conditions from your phone.
