Finding flat sea conditions for diving just got easier

We’ve completely re-designed the way we show the local weather and the sea condition! While we know the underwater visibility is key to having a good dive, good sea conditions determine whether you can actually get in the water or not.
Following hours of conversations with divers, we’ve made it easier to understand when the conditions are favourable for diving.
Designed to be mobile-first, our new colour-coded charts help you see sea conditions at a glance:
Wind speed and direction
Check the wind speed and direction for any spot around the UK for today and tomorrow. The new colour-coded graph design allows you to see the wind speed and average direction for the whole day at a glance.
The wind graphs come in four different colour codes to help you quickly see if diving is possible:
0-1 BFT (0-3 mph): Green = Safe
2-3 BFT (4-12 mph): Lime = Ok
4-5 BFT (13-24 mph): Orange = Warning
6+ BFT (25+ mph): Red = Danger
Swell and wave height
Knowing the direction of the swell and wave height is also critical. It indicates where the waves are coming from, which can affect underwater currents and visibility. For example, if waves are coming from the land, they might bring in sediment, reducing visibility. Large swells can lead to powerful underwater currents, which can be potentially very dangerous, especially near rocky areas. These charts are also colour-coded to show the appropriate safety level depending on the wave height and swell.
The swell and wave height graphs come in four different colour codes to help you assess if diving is possible:
0-2 ft: Green = Good for diving
2-4 ft: Lime = Ok
4-6 ft: Orange = Risky
6+ ft: Red = Definitely not good
Tide
Our updated tide information section provides more readable data on tidal changes, including the exact times and heights of high and low tides. Understanding tides is essential for dive planning, particularly in areas with significant tidal variations such as coves, where tidal impacts can be amplified. Soon we’ll be able to show you the spring and neap tidal data right here too!
Weather Forecast
We’ve revamped how we display the weather for the day, with new coloured icons and the exact number of mm expected to rain to help you plan your dive.
Water Temperature
We’re now able to show you the water temperature! This should help you choose your gear for the day. This temperature is taken from the sea's surface and is an average for the whole day.
Underwater visibility
When the conditions are right, then the only thing left to check is the viz! Marla's AI model forecasts the visibility for today and tomorrow, for anywhere around the UK coast!
Data Source
While the underwater visibility forecast is all our own proprietary model, all the weather condition information is provided by Open Meteo.
Disclaimer: The colour-coded ranges are guides, aiming to make the conditions easier to read. As with all forecasts, they are not 100% accurate. Please make sure conditions are safe before you get in the water.
