An update from Marla, the diving visibility forecasting tool for freedivers, scuba divers and spearos in the UK and Australia.
We’ve been chatting to divers all across the UK and Australia to learn all about visibility and the world of diving, we’ve heard so many great stories about your diving experiences. We’re using your experiences to improve Marla.
We're excited to share with you the latest updates and improvements. Here's what we’ve been working on:
What's new
Started to improve the diving conditions information, to help you find the best time to dive, showing you:
Hourly weather forecast for today and tomorrow.
Tide time and height.
mm of rainfall over the past 3 days.
Summarised the weather for the past 3 days, to help you know how that might affect today.
Added more information about the forecast, to answer the frequently asked questions.
Started to improve the report viz form, to make it easier to report and for us to use the information effectively.
Improved the weather card layout to accommodate all this new information.
These changes aren’t yet live for Marla Australia, but they’re on their way.
What we’re working on now
We're working on some new features and would love to get your thoughts:
Along with the things in the design survey, we’re also working on:
Improving the algorithm. We’re constantly working on improving our algorithm to improve the accuracy of our forecast. Version updates out soon.
Continuing to improve the diving conditions information, we’re working on:
Ability to change units: kph… mph…bft…knots… everyone has their preferred method!
Showing: the slack of the tide; the water temperature, pollution incidents and the chlorophyll reading.
